Walsall played out a fourth consecutive 0-0 draw, this time against Rochdale at the Banks's Stadium on Saturday. The result extends their unbeaten run in League Two but highlights a persistent lack of cutting edge.
Walsall sit fifth in the table with 10 points from six games, just two points behind leaders Barnet. Their recent form now reads four draws and two wins, with the four draws all being goalless.
Chances come and go
Nils Ramming made a smart double save from Mason Hancock and Aaron Pressley after 25 minutes. Dajaune Brown then saw his cushioned effort from the edge of the area strike the crossbar four minutes later. Just before half-time, Jed Ward pushed a low drive from a Derby loanee around the post.
James Connolly had a close-range header scrambled off the line by Dan Moss early in the second half. Substitute Lewis Simper's late bicycle kick flew straight into Ramming's gloves in added time, sealing the stalemate.
The team now prepares for its next match, a home fixture against 22nd-placed Port Vale on Saturday, 19 September. View the full schedule on our fixtures page.
