Walsall's head coach Mat Sadler says he is very happy with the club's transfer business this summer, having brought in 15 new players since the end of last season. The Saddlers have signed players like Jid Okeke and Rico Richards on deadline-day loans. Despite losing two new recruits, Bournemouth loan striker Jonny Stuttle and versatile defender Mason Hancock, to knee injuries in the same game, Sadler is pleased with what he has been able to do in the window. Sadler told BBC Radio WM that it's been a lot of work over the last three months, rebuilding the squad. Walsall's signings cover every area of the squad, and Sadler says one of the benefits is the freshness it brings. The Saddlers boss wanted to change things up after last season's failure to win automatic promotion from League Two. Sadler is now looking forward to planning for the rest of the year without the threat of players leaving. The window closing is a relief for Sadler, who says it brings a level of potential uncertainty in the group. Walsall have won four and lost two of their six games in League Two, and host Chesterfield on Saturday. The Saddlers beat Chesterfield in the play-off semi-finals last season. Sadler is focused on honing the synergy in his new-look squad, which should be easier with the window now shut. He says it won't really settle down for another couple of months, but hopefully, they'll see that real consistency.
