Walsall's Mayfield Community Centre, a council-owned building, is the longstanding home of two key Walsall community-led organisations. The Black Sisters Collective and the Union of Muslim Organisation (UMO) have been based at the centre for years, providing valuable services to the community. Essential roof repairs are needed at the centre, which will be renovated to the tune of more than £500,000. Part of the building will become a training centre with improved access facilities for visitors with disabilities. The improvement works will ensure that both organisations can continue their valuable work for years to come, fostering inclusion, wellbeing, and opportunity across Walsall. UMO will be creating a new training and community welfare centre with accessible toilets and a kitchen, while the Black Sisters Collective will continue to provide support services to the community. The renovation project is expected to be completed soon, and the centre will reopen with improved facilities and services.
