Walsall will kick off pre-season at Leamington on Saturday. Stewart Mairs believes Lee Grant’s appointment will increase Walsall’s scope to develop young talent. Walsall have made four signings, including attacking midfielder Lewis Simper from the non-league market. Striker Andrew Dallas was signed from League One outfit Barnsley, with experience in the National League. Mairs suggested that Walsall will continue to tap into the non-league market, having had success in the past. The National League is a strong league, with many young and hungry players available. Walsall will also hold a kit launch event in The Locker at Bescot on Saturday, before traveling to non-league Leamington for their first pre-season game under Grant. With a league standing of 13th in League Two, 65 pts, 18W-11D-17L from 46 games, and a recent form of LLWLL, Walsall aims to improve under Lee Grant's guidance.
