Walsall Still Has Work to Do in Transfer Window
Walsall FC manager Lee Grant said this week that the Saddlers still have a fair way to go in terms of their summer transfer business. After the departures of 14 players, Walsall have brought in five new faces, but they are yet to seriously bolster in key areas.
As of July 14, 2026, Walsall are 13th in League Two with 65 points from 46 games, with a recent form of LLLWL. They have scored 56 goals this season and conceded 56, with a goal difference of 0. They are 22 points behind leaders Bromley and have lost their last four games, including a 3-1 defeat to Bromley on May 2.
Myles Roberts: A Familiar Face
One goalkeeper who could be a good fit for Walsall is Myles Roberts. Roberts spent the previous campaign on loan at Walsall, registering 13 clean sheets in 46 games across all competitions. He was released by Watford upon his return from Bescot and is now available as a free agent. Roberts has been linked with a return to former loan club Partick Thistle, but Walsall could consider bringing him back to the club.
Tom Bradshaw: A Former Fan-Favourite
Another player who could be a good fit for Walsall is Tom Bradshaw. Bradshaw is a former Walsall player who scored 20 goals apiece in each of his two seasons at the club. He has found himself on the footballing scrapheap a decade on from his Walsall exit in 2016. Bradshaw has spent the best part of the last decade with Millwall and Barnsley in the Championship and has recently been let go by Oxford. It would be a gamble if Bradshaw did decide to return, but the purists would be hopeful that he could rediscover his goal-scoring groove back at the Bescot.
Evan Khouri: A Midfielder in Need of a Club
Evan Khouri is a 23-year-old midfielder who rejected a new contract at Grimsby Town and is currently without a club. Khouri scored four goals and set up two more in 42 appearances in all competitions for the Mariners last term. However, Walsall have begun to stack out their midfield with the signings of Lewis Simper, Sven Sprangler, and loanee Isaac Moore, which suggests it is no longer a priority position.
Will Wright: A Defender with Experience
Will Wright is a 29-year-old defender who departed Swindon Town this summer after two seasons at the County Ground. Wright previously won promotion to League One with Crawley Town via the play-offs in 2024 and was named the Robins' player of the season in 2024-25. He notched 10 goals and eight assists in 95 appearances for the club.
Omari Patrick: A Reliable Provider of Goals
Omari Patrick is a 30-year-old winger who has proven a reliable provider of goals despite starring in a struggling Tranmere team. Patrick weighed in with eight goals and six assists in all competitions last term and finished 2024-25 with 19 direct goal involvements in total (13 goals, six assists). Patrick has also had a knack of popping up with goals against the Saddlers, scoring in three of his previous nine meetings.
