Walsall have released 12 players including centre-back Aiden Flint following the end of the League Two season. Flint, 36, arrived on a one-year deal from Mansfield Town last summer and featured in all but two games this term as the Saddlers finished a frustrating campaign in 13th place, 13 points outside the play-offs. Striker Jamille Matt, also 36, made 140 appearances and scored 23 goals for the Saddlers since signing from Forest Green Rovers in January 2023. Midfielder Brandon Comley's four-season stay at the Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium saw the 30-year-old play 151 times. Former Birmingham City midfielder Charlie Lakin, 26, arrived from Burton Albion two years ago and went on to score five times in 97 games. The Saddlers are discussing new deals with veteran forward Albert Adomah and ex-Birmingham academy prospect Rico Browne. Adomah, who turns 39 in December, has become a firm favourite with the Walsall fans since joining from Queens Park Rangers two seasons ago and played 51 times this season, starting all but one of Darren Byfield's 10 games in charge at the end of the campaign. Defender Browne, 22, played 28 matches in all competitions having initially moved across the West Midlands on a one-year deal in September 2024 with an option to extend for a further 12 months. Walsall have also extended the contracts of young goalkeeper Jenson Kilroy and right-back Elicha Ahui, who has just returned to fitness after nearly a year out with a knee injury.
