Walsall FC's Gary Edwards, a match day volunteer, celebrated his 80th birthday with a VIP tour of Wembley Stadium.
As a dedicated volunteer for 35 years, Edwards has been running the tuck shop at Bescot Stadium since its construction in 1990. He was presented with a signed shirt before the semi-final and took a behind-the-scenes tour before the final. Edwards described the experience as "brilliant" despite Walsall's disappointing defeat.
What happened at Wembley?
Edwards visited the royal box, media room, and even walked on the pitch, imagining himself as the England manager. He recalled his previous visits to the old Wembley stadium, where he paid seven shillings and sixpence for a ticket.
Volunteer's dedication
Edwards' son was a member of the junior Saddlers team, which led to his involvement with the club. He has been running the tuck shop for 35 years, with Haribo sweets and KitKats being the top sellers.
