Former Walsall defender Priestley Farquharson has joined League Two rivals Crawley Town on a two-year deal. Farquharson was released by the Saddlers at the end of last season after the club opted not to trigger the additional one-year option included in the contract extension he signed last summer. The 29-year-old made 59 appearances in all competitions during his three years at the Bescot Stadium, with 35 of those coming last season. Farquharson's time at Walsall was disrupted by injury following his arrival in the summer of 2023. He began his senior career in non-league football, representing Hitchin Town, Billericay Town, Hayes & Yeading United and Bishop's Stortford before joining Welsh side Connah's Quay Nomads in 2019. During his time there, he helped the club win the Cymru Premier title and Welsh League Cup, earning a move into the Football League with Newport County in 2021. After two years at Rodney Parade, Farquharson made the switch to Walsall in 2023. The defender's departure from Walsall comes as no surprise, given his release at the end of the season. Crawley Town, who avoided relegation from League Two on the final day of last season, have secured a valuable signing in Farquharson. The Sussex club will be hoping the defender can bring his experience and skills to the team, having scored five goals in 35 games for Walsall last season. Farquharson's signing is a significant boost for Crawley Town, who will be looking to improve their performance in the upcoming season.
